    Description

The Doe River is one of the Watauga tail waters largest tributary streams.  It can turn the Watauga brown during high rains and keep it running colder in the spring than other tailwaters, due to snowmelt.  However the Doe is a spectacular fishery.  The lower reaches have great Brown and Rainbow Trout fishing and it’s upper tributaries hold excellent Brook trout fishing.  The majority of the Doe River is inside the borders of Roan Mountain State Park.  There is also a campground inside the state park boundaries.
