Fishing and River Description
Little River is the largest and most diverse watershed in the Tennessee
side of the Smokies. It starts high above Elkmont campground and drops
in elevation until it meets up with Little River Road which paralells it until it
reach Townsend, TN and exists the park. Little River has good
populations of Brook Trout in it's highest elevations, then transitions into
Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. Little River is also known for it's large
and very wary Brown Trout. Catching just one trophy Brown Trout from
it's waters is a huge achievement as these are as wild as they come. It's
been said that if you can successfully fish in the Smokies, then you can
fish anywhere in the world. After having chased Little Rivers Brown Trout
I can say that is most definately true.
